Albert Einstein developed the special and general theories of relativity, reshaping our understanding of space, time and gravity, and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect.

He later worked at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, until his death on April 18, 1955.
