Inclusion
Inclusion at Boston Made
You belong here.
Boston Made started in 2019 with well-made things for dogs and grew into a family of brands, stories and tools for the city that inspired it. Through all of it, one idea has stayed the same: everyone who walks through our door should feel like they belong. Not tolerated. Not an afterthought. Welcome, exactly as you are.
What belonging means here
Six promises, one for every color.
Belonging is not a slogan we put on a page once a year. It is a set of habits, and these are the ones we hold ourselves to across every Boston Made site, product and story.
Come as you are
Who you are, who you love, where you come from, how you worship or don’t, what you earn and how you move through the world. All of you is welcome here.
Built for every body
We design for readable type, strong contrast, keyboard navigation and screen readers, and we keep fixing what we miss.
Your inbox, your call
Our marketing is opt-in only. You choose what you hear from us, and one click is always enough to stop.
Room at the table
The stories we tell come from every neighborhood and every kind of Bostonian, because the city was never just one kind of person.
Respect, always
Hate and harassment have no place in the spaces we run. Disagree with us, debate us, but treat people with dignity.
Tell us when we miss
If something on a Boston Made site made you feel shut out, we want to hear about it, and we will work to make it right.
Belonging in practice
What it looks like day to day.
- Plain, friendly language on every page, so nobody needs insider knowledge to find their way.
- One sign-in that works across the Boston Made family, so you are recognized everywhere instead of starting over.
- Respectful forms that ask only for what we need, with nothing pre-checked on your behalf.
- Stories, brands and community features that reflect the many people who make Boston what it is.
- A real person reading feedback, not a black hole.
- Color, joy and personality in what we make, because belonging should feel like a celebration.
There is a seat for you.
Whether you found us through a dog collar, a Newsroom story, a game in the Arcade or a website we built, you are part of the Boston Made family now. We are glad you are here.
